New York, Miami, London and now, the traveling luxury sneaker store will finally be hitting Asia next weekend on June 12, finally landing in Tokyo. As with the previous pop-up Gucci Icon-Temporary stores, the Tokyo pop-up will also feature exclusive sneakers from both Gucci and Gucci Ronson that are only available at the Tokyo spot.
The store, like its predecessors on the other side of the world, is clean, bright, and relates simple Gucci luxury with the luxury house’s signature red and green stripes. Sneakers are rooted attentively on platforms in the store, flanking the space as both product and and indispensable interior design.
The collection of sneakers set to release continue to be playful, and in terms of energy, is reminiscent of the London exclusive sneakers. However, the Tokyo exclusives are slightly more graphic-centric and draws inspiration from automobile and nature, thus rendering the sneaker uppers in prints of what looks like honeycomb and reptilian leather. In reference to the previous Gucci Icon-Temporary collection, the boat shoe silhouette continues to be one of the highlights of the pack, as the summer staple is given a younger edge in black with white graphics of a vintage ride. As for the Gucci Ronson collaboration, Grammy award winning producer Mark Ronson, had decided to keep things a little simpler with a piano or tuxedo touch in white with patent black toe box. The popular high-top boat shoe sneaker, while uncomplicated in monochrome, is still eye-catching in ankle to sole red.
Check out the sneakers, and if you do spot something you like, it is perhaps time to find that friend who had relocated to Tokyo years ago, reconnect, and revive your Paypal account. images via: Openers
